The Maclean Lions Club Billy Cart Derby is gearing up for another successful outing down the hills of the Maclean Showground!
There are three age groups and two classes of billy carts that contestants can compete in. Age groups are eight to 11 years, 12 to 16 years, and Open.
Billy Cart Classes are Soapbox, where wheel sizes are a maximum of 300 millimetres in diameter, some form of steering and some form of braking is present; and Open Class, which must have some form of braking.
Both classes must have a maximum 1.2 metre wheel width, a maximum 2.1 metre wheel base and no dangerous protrusions. All carts must have four wheels.
All drivers must wear a motorcycle helmet, gloves, overalls or long sleeved shirt, long trousers and closed in footwear.
Scrutineering of carts begins at 9am, with the first race kicking off at 10am.
