Part of the $4.36 B Woolgoolga to Ballina Pacific Highway upgrade is the new bridge crossing the Clarence River at Harwood.
Many of you would remember crossing the existing bridge on your way south from Ballina or north from Coffs Harbour.
Remember how the bridge opens to allow tall-masted yachts to pass underneath. Well this will become a thing of the past. Check out the photos of a work in progress. This bridge is 1.5 kms long, boasting 35 spans and at present the girders are being installed. So far over 40 of the 144 girders are in place and the rest are being installed over the next 6 months. Completion should be late 2019 to early 2020. It looks like it will be as impressive as the Brisbane Gateway.
